Suspect Nabbed After Stabbing Leaves CT Teen In Critical Condition

A Connecticut man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a teen during a domestic violence incident leaving him in critical condition.

Litchfield County resident David Cruz, age 28, of Torrington, was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 7, for the stabbing which took place around 1:50 p.m. on Highland Avenue in Torrington.

According to Detective Kevin Tieman, of the Torrington Police, officers responded for a report of a man with a stab wound,

When officers arrived on the scene they found a 17-year-old teen with a stab wound to the stomach on the sidewalk in front of Building No. 9, Tieman said.

The teen was transported to Waterbury Hospital where he was brought immediately to the operating room in critical condition. 

On Monday, Nov. 8,  the teen remained in the ICU still in critical condition after a 4-hour surgery. 

He is scheduled to be transferred in the am to either CCMC or Yale-New Haven Hospital for continued treatment.

Cruz was arrested on the scene and charged with first-degree assault. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.
